Rural architecture

The Korean Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs has concluded and awarded an international ideas competition open to architects from around the world.

 

 

Presentation

The objective of the competition was to propose solutions to the problems encountered by rural communities all over the world, using the Korean example. Set in a Korean village competitors were invited to  seeks solutions for the reconstitution of residential facilities, the rehabilitation of older buildings and the insertion of new constructions

178 applicant teams entered the competition. 75 teams were from Korean; the others were from all over the globe.

Dominique Gauzin-Müller from France represented the UIA on the jury chaired by Korean architect Joh Sung-Yong.
